The PCANZ 2025 Summer School programme is now open for expressions of interest!

An exciting, immersive week of printmaking and connecting with printmakers from around the country.

This year we are thrilled to have two international tutors (from Australia and Canada) alongside our tutors from around Aotearoa.

Choose from the 7 options - 2 x 4-day courses or 4 x 2-day courses and/or the open studio with accommodation and meals all on site.

Workshops: 4-day $410 or $396, 2-day $205 or $198

Workshops are on Monday, Tuesday, then again on Thursday, Friday leaving a free day on Wednesday to explore Hamilton's galleries, cafes, sight see, etc.

*There will be an extra cost for materials specific to each workshop. You will be informed with workshop confirmation.

There is a small extra cost for the international tutor workshops.

Accommodation and meals: $615

Waikato Diocesan for Girls Hostel, 660 River Road, Chartwell, Hamilton 3210 from Sunday 12 - Friday 17 January 2025. Your booking is an all inclusive cost to cover 5 nights, 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 dinners. Specific diets are available on request, some extra charges will apply.

Cancellation policy - Cancellations of the 50% deposit will be refunded less 15% administration fee until early November. Cancellation of full payment after 20 November - there will be no refunds unless in exceptional circumstances (at the discretion of the Executive).

1. Barbie Kjar: Masterclass in Mokulito printing - $410

Monday 13 to Friday 17 January (with a free day on the Wednesday). The workshop with Tasmanian printmaker Barbie Kjar explores the wonderfully simple technique of Mokulito, a process by which one can draw an image on a plywood matrix and print from it. It uses the same principles as stone and metal plate lithography without acids, etches or turpentine. The image can be added to, subtracted from, carved into and coloured with water colour or printing inks.

2. Stacey Hildreth: Exploring Texture and Pattern through Wax Collagraphs - $396

Monday 13 to Friday 17 January(with a free day on the Wednesday). In Stacey Hildreth's workshop, students will explore Wax Collagraphs, using traditional and contemporary tools, to create texture and pattern. The students will also experiment with different monoprinting techniques, and create colour options for the base of the print.
